Shopify and French e-invoicing compliance
Shopify powers hundreds of thousands of online stores in France. With the French e-invoicing reform taking effect from September 2026 (reception for all, emission for large companies) and September 2027 (emission for SMEs), businesses selling through Shopify will need to generate invoices in the Factur-X format and submit them to the French tax authorities.
The Facturiz Shopify integration is currently in development and will provide a seamless bridge between your Shopify store and the French Portail Public de Facturation (PPF). Join our waitlist to be notified as soon as it becomes available.
How the integration will work
Once available, the Shopify-Facturiz integration will connect to your store through the Shopify API and automatically process every order into a compliant electronic invoice.
Planned synchronization flow
- Secure Shopify connection: Authorize Facturiz through Shopify’s OAuth flow to securely access your order and billing data.
- Automatic order detection: When an order is placed, paid, or refunded in Shopify, Facturiz will automatically capture the event and begin processing.
- Legal data enrichment: Facturiz will add all required French legal information, including your SIRET number, buyer details, and mandatory invoice mentions.
- Factur-X document generation: Each invoice will be converted to a PDF/A-3 document with embedded CII XML metadata, fully compliant with the EN 16931 European standard.
- Automated PPF submission: The finalized document will be transmitted directly to the French tax portal for validation.
E-reporting support
For B2C transactions that do not require full e-invoicing, Facturiz will handle e-reporting obligations automatically, ensuring that your domestic consumer sales are properly reported to the DGFiP.
Key features (planned)
- Full order synchronization: Every Shopify order that generates an invoice will be automatically processed without manual intervention.
- Multi-store support: Manage multiple Shopify stores linked to different legal entities, each with their own compliance settings.
- Refund and credit note handling: Automatically generate compliant credit notes when refunds are issued in Shopify.
- Centralized invoice dashboard: View and track the compliance status of all your Shopify invoices from a single Facturiz interface.
- Historical import: Convert past Shopify orders into Factur-X format to ensure compliance for your existing invoice history.
Why Shopify merchants need Facturiz
Shopify does not natively generate invoices in the Factur-X format required by French law. Without a solution like Facturiz, merchants will need to manually create compliant invoices for every transaction, a process that is time-consuming and error-prone. Facturiz will automate this entire workflow, letting you focus on growing your store rather than worrying about regulatory compliance.
