PayPal + Facturiz: Factur-X compliance for the world's most popular payment platform

Automatically convert your PayPal transactions into Factur-X invoices that meet French e-invoicing reform requirements.

PayPal and French e-invoicing

PayPal is one of the most widely used payment platforms in the world, serving millions of businesses and consumers. For companies operating in France, the e-invoicing reform arriving from September 2026 (reception for all, emission for large companies) and September 2027 (emission for SMEs) means that invoices associated with PayPal transactions must be produced in the Factur-X format and transmitted to the French tax authorities via the Portail Public de Facturation (PPF).

Facturiz is developing a PayPal integration to make this compliance process fully automatic. Join our waitlist to be notified when the integration is ready.

How the integration will work

The PayPal-Facturiz integration will connect through the PayPal REST API and webhook system to capture transaction data and produce compliant electronic invoices.

Planned synchronization flow

  • Secure OAuth connection: Authorize Facturiz to access your PayPal account through PayPal’s OAuth 2.0 flow, ensuring your credentials remain private and secure.
  • Transaction event tracking: Facturiz will monitor PayPal webhook events for completed sales, subscription payments, refunds, and disputes.
  • Legal data enrichment: Each invoice will be augmented with the legally required French information, including your SIRET number, buyer identification, VAT details, and mandatory legal mentions.
  • Factur-X generation: Transactions will be converted into PDF/A-3 documents with embedded CII XML metadata, fully compliant with the European EN 16931 standard.
  • Automated PPF submission: Completed Factur-X documents will be transmitted directly to the French tax portal for validation and official archival.

Handling PayPal’s diverse transaction types

PayPal supports a wide range of transaction types: one-time payments, recurring subscriptions, invoicing, marketplace payouts, and more. The Facturiz integration will handle each type appropriately, ensuring that the resulting Factur-X documents accurately represent the nature and details of every transaction.

Planned features

  • Automatic transaction-to-invoice conversion: Every completed PayPal transaction will be automatically processed into a Factur-X compliant invoice.
  • Subscription billing support: Recurring PayPal subscription payments will each generate a compliant invoice at every billing cycle.
  • E-reporting for B2C sales: Consumer transactions that fall under e-reporting obligations will be properly reported to French tax authorities, even when full e-invoicing is not required.
  • Refund and dispute management: PayPal refunds and resolved disputes will trigger automatic compliant credit note generation.
  • Multi-currency transaction handling: PayPal transactions in various currencies will be documented with the required exchange rate details in the Factur-X output.
  • Compliance tracking dashboard: Monitor the status of every PayPal-linked invoice from transaction capture through to PPF acceptance.
  • Historical transaction import: Retroactively generate Factur-X documents for your existing PayPal transaction history to achieve full compliance.

Why PayPal users need Facturiz

PayPal provides payment processing and basic invoicing tools, but it does not produce documents in the Factur-X format required by French law. Businesses collecting payments through PayPal need a dedicated solution to meet the electronic invoicing mandate. Facturiz bridges this gap by automating the entire process from payment data capture to Factur-X generation and tax portal submission.
